Dr. Cho is a great teacher. She's really kind and accommodating, and I think some people unfortunately take advantage of that. Also, this should be general knowledge, but if you're going to take a literature class, expect weekly readings and a lot of class discussions. It was so painfully obvious that no one read because no one would answer Dr. Cho's questions. It made for really awkward classes and was really frustrating for me personally. Dr. Cho deserves a lot better than that! So that being said, if you enjoy reading and talking in class, definitely take her section. |

Rankin is a cool guy and a decent professor. This class is definitely more chill, so if you want an easy A, I would suggest this course. His classes are definitely more discussion-based, and hardly any lecture-type style. A common downside to this is that I would say most classes seem dead since hardly everyone is super engaged. There is a decent amount of reading, so be ready for that. Most of the effort in this class should be dedicated to the readings and essays, and you'll do great :) |

She is super nice and chill! This class (at least when I took it), is just reading + discussion + some papers to write. I wouldn't say it's a heavy workload class, just remember to read (or at least get a gist of it) the texts so you know what is going on in the class discussion and it will be easy to write the weekly discussion post too. |

His class is very simple and straightforward. He gives out readings every class, anywhere from 20-50 pages a night which seemed a lot to me since I'm not a big reader. The class would pretty much feel like a discussion where students are assigned to various chapters and for 1.45 hours we just talk about main ideas. There are two-ish three papers due in the class which seemed fair. One short paper, a midterm paper, and a final paper. Very nice and helpful guy, but the class was a little boring for me. He does try his best to engage in classroom conversations and discussions but sometimes it's a little awkward when he asks a question and nobody responds lol. Recommend him :) |

Really great teacher! He's actually excited about the content he's teaching so it's easy to read and talk about each novel. He's also super understanding if you need an extension or extra help. The reading is not too much per class, so as long as you do it and do 6 discussion posts the entire semester you're all good. |

She was alright. Contrary to what my classmate from fall 2019 said I feel her grading was almost random half the time. The class was kinda boring but the final was ez-pz overall probably wouldn’t take a class with her again. |

This class has as fair amount of work involved. The readings were interesting, but the motifs became repetitive. Essays are graded somewhat closely, but the professor is happy to work with you to develop your thesis and essays. Besides essays, weekly journals are assignments which are based upon the readings for that week. These are manageable. Each book read in this class was interesting in its own way, but some motifs were repetitive. Class participation is somewhat important, but sometimes there is too much focus on finding the "correct" answer rather than encouraging original thoughts and opinions. Tl;dr: Interesting class. Come in ready to write, and stay up-to-date with readings. |

Andy can be a tough grader and expects a decent contribution from the students. He will assign a LOT of reading almost every class for homework and has reading quizzes that are pretty specific. As long as you do the readings, do decently well on the 3 papers, have an average presentation, and participate, you can get at least an A or B in the class. |

I'm a science major and I only took this class because I had to fulfill my gened requirement, but I ended up enjoying it. It wasn't boring and Professor Davis is really engaging and makes you comfortable about participating in discussions. Even if you don't like to talk in class, he also gives you a chance to save your participation grade by participating in discussions on ELMS. He's also very approachable and has office hours before each class. Exams are reasonable, and he even gave us the questions beforehand for the final to give us all a break. He is kind of a hard grader, but gives good feedback on how you can improve on your next paper. He does assign a lot of reading, but it's doable. Very cool professor. Plus he has an awesome sense of style. |
