Recent reviewer, of course your experience isn't reflected by the other reviews, what the heck, did you expect them to? Just because you had a completely different experience from others, does not void the experiences of other students. Anyways, the class was relatively okay. Professor rarely teaches, the lectures are 98% guest presentations with the exception that someone cancels or something else is planned. The grading in this class is weird as well, was not a fan. The exams are so vague and they study guides are something you kind of have to decipher on your own (ESPECIALLY THE ONE FOR THE FINAL). I'm sure there are better courses to take but if this is something that interests you, by all means. |

These other reviews do not reflect the experience I had in this course. Yes, I took it to fill some diversity credit requirements. The lectures were hit or miss, some were interesting, some weren't. I would argue that doesn't matter at all, however. A large portion of your grade is based on attending lectures and discussions. All you're expected to do in both is sit there quietly, taking notes if you please. The quizzes are always word for word from the lecture slides. The quizzes are nothing but a grade buffer. The other assignments are relatively straightforward. My only gripe is losing a letter grade on my draft for incorrect usage of footnotes, but that was due to my TA. If you can bring yourself to pay attention (even a little) during lectures, the exams in my experience were nothing to worry about. I didn't feel confident going in, and I took a lot of guesses, but still got an A since theyre all short response and its hard to give a "wrong" answer. I would recommend this course to anyone looking to fill requirements. It obviously helps that I had an interest in the environment and sustainability going into it. |

Ralph, Ralph, Ralph. Where do I start with this class? First of all, evening class that met at 5pm and went all the way to 6:15pm. He is a nice professor, but he is very boring given his old age. I don't know why he's so picky on grading and will want you to remember things from previous lectures. Oh and his tests make no sense and he expects you think what to study. Please take this class for another credit, I beg you. |

The guest lecturers are fine until they ramble on about something way beyond our comprehension. He posts the slides and we have quizzes based on them, but some questions are very loosely tied to the lecture. The midterm and final had horrible study guides and were short-answer questions that were difficult and unfair. At least our research is interesting and learning about sustainability initiatives around campus is cool. |

This class is ridiculous. Guest lectures EVERY Tuesday and pointless discussions every Thursday. Major assignments consist of a research paper with a ROUGH DRAFT that's worth a significant amount of your grade and a presentation. If you're thinking of taking this class to satisfy your DSNS or DSSP, SCIS requirements, take something else. You don't really learn or retain any useful information in this class. |

Not interesting! The class is all lectures and the quizzes are easy enough but the assignments are not communicated well and the exams are near impossible. He expects you to just know stuff and isn't a huge help. |

He is a nice guy but a horrible Professor. For this class, he did not teach a single lecture. We had guest lectures for every class and he did nothing but go over the guest lecture's slides during the discussion section. If you have him as a TA, good luck. He grades very harsh and is very vague on what he wants. His rubric will say one thing but he deducts points on parts that were not specified on the rubric. |
