Dr. S is so passionate about the course and America's history and just loves music in itself, it's amazing that she teaches this course. She always made sure to make her students feel welcome and to talk to her about the course material if there were any complications, or if you just needed some advice or a friendly talk. The material itself had some heavy topics about racism, America's story including slavery and racism, sexism, almost all the -isms and -ias because that is what America's built on. You're required to do readings for every class and relay your thoughts on the discussion board, which isn't that much of a task to do for each class and only had one major assignment and one final that was only worth 20% of your grade so overall, you're not doing a lot of work just make sure to participate in class because since it's a small group, she will ask you to contribute at least once a week. Definitely recommend this class to incoming freshmen who want to connect music to history but also have an easygoing class. |
