I highly recommend this professor and class. I am an econ major and know next to nothing about art or art history, but Professor Hargrove made the class very interesting. She is genuinely interested in this subject and is extremely knowledgeable. The exams involve alot of memorizing, but other than that, there is not a whole lot of work involved. She does keep track of attendance, but if you show up regularly and pay attention, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to walk away with an A. Overall, Hargrove is great and I would definitely recommend.

If you are not an art history major do not take Professor Hargrove. She starts the first day of class assuming everyone already has some form of knowledge on the subject. She is notorious for picking favorites. The work load and level of detail required to get an A is a bit much . Although a B is not hard to get. Lastly for a GenEd this course requires ALOT of time the final has 200+ items even though she only well test you on about 10 which is insane and inconsiderate.

Dr. Hargrove is divine (almost as divine as the pieces we studied). She's a gifted and knowledgable lecturer as well as a genuinely wonderful person. She wants her students to succeed and always makes herself available to those who are hoping to improve. The class itself requires a moderate amount of work: attending lecture regularly, reviewing the textbook before exams, etc. There is a research paper due at the end of the semester that counts for 25% of your final grade, so take it seriously.
