The textbook was a very useful source to learn the material in more depth prior to playing the videos. I also believe that being able to pause the video was advantageous to my learning as opposed to having synchronous lecture everyday. The exams were fair. I believe that the videos are repetitive, redundant at times, and old. Information is repeated at length which makes the videos disengaging, and unclear what is actually need to know, especially since some of the repeated information was not on the exams. Also, if we are watching these videos in order, there is no need to go back into the male reproductive anatomy or female reproductive anatomy every time we discuss a process. I also believe the videos need to be revamped, since some of the videos are from 2021 and in the videos, the professor makes edits to the slides and those are not reflected in the pdf version. I do not like that the professor jumps around the slide deck instead of having everything in an appropriate order. I also believe the slides need work as well. Almost all of the information is either in colored text, bolded, highlighted, or a combination of the three, and it makes it very difficult to determine what actually important. Also, red ink should not be mixed with green highlighter, or purple ink with blue highlighter. It is very difficult to see the text. In addition, the textbook chapters must align with what is going on in lecture that day. I understand that it is for reference only, but reading the textbook is very helpful for myself since I need to read things over and over again to understand them, I am not an auditory learner. However, the chapters on the syllabus do not line up with the content that is being covered that day. We never get to the chapter of lactation, and when we were supposed to be learning about parturition, I was reading about fertilization. When I emailed the professor for better understanding, I was met with a copy and paste line from the syllabus that read "The textbook is just for reference" despite me mentioning I knew the textbook was for reference only. Yet, if the textbook is for reference, shouldn't it reference what we are learning that day? Although I do believe the exams were fair, I do not think it is appropriate to make questions 4 points a piece, offering 3 bonus questions, so the only was you could get a B+ is to not get more than 5 questions wrong. Also for the questions that involve the both A and C, or both A and B parts, there should be half credit for knowing one of the correct answers. I also do not believe it is appropriate to switch between select all statements that are TRUE then all statements that are FALSE. I lost majority of my points because I selected true statements when I was supposed to select false statements and vide versa. I would also appreciate practice exams, or classwork to interact with material the way the professor sees fit. There is a severe lack of resources for success in this class, considering the questions you are supposed to get with the book are glitchy and outdated. Finally, this class did not take about 2 hours a day (which was the professors projection). I spent at least 6 hours a day on reading the textbook, listening to the lecture video, and studying the content from the lecture. Sometimes the videos were two hours long, so according to the projection, that is already what I should have spent on class that day. In general, for winter classes, professors should know that students attending an online class may be living at home. I reached out to the professor weeks before the class asking if there was a synchronous portion to the class so I could provide my boss with my work schedule. Where I work is open 11-5, and since that is normal business hours, I couldn't guarantee my boss that I would be available, so I lost a months pay. The professor responded to my email last week and it felt like a slap in the face. All in all, I was very excited for this class and honestly, it has let me down significantly. I understand it is a very specific topic, and that is what I was looking forward to. However, at a point the information just started repeating itself and that information wasn't the facts being tested.

This course is dense! Took it during a winter session - expect to spend 2-3 hrs per lecture each day during the term. The slides have a lot of content on them. The review sessions on zoom work as a repeat of the slides - which may or may not be helpful to you. The exams are completely true/false but with multiple options that can really trip you up: A, B, C, A and B, B and C, none of the above. Extra credit is given on each exam as multi-select but still true/false format. The extra credit works as a curve, so really do your best on it. If the memorization of physiological pathways is not your strong-suit, this is not the course for you. Opoku was polite, but this class exhausted me.

This class didn't have any reviews at all, so I kinda went into this class blind and took it during the winter break to raise my science GPA. I previously had opoku for anatomy and enjoyed it, so I found it interesting she taught this course also. Once again, I could say she did not disappoint. This class was not exactly as easy as I hoped, but it was very doable. It's a quick 3-week asynchronous course, so she pretty much just posts all the slides/recordings with the expectation that you are responsible for taking notes for the exams. The only assignments in the class involved 3 exams (2 midterms and 1 cumulative final -- all multiple choice), but she usually adds a lot of extra points to your existing scores on each exam, which I think is a way for her to curve them based on the class's performance. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the exam structures themselves, where I feel like the choices are designed to make you second-guess yourself. However, as long as you take notes on all the slides you should be okay. I think she curved our final grades as well, since I didn't actually expect to get an A- in this class. Anyways, Opuku is a great professor, so if you want a science class to take during the winter I'd recommend this one :)
