Wow. Extremely kind professor and super enthusiastic. She's the platonic ideal of a professor IMO. Low stress, extremely fun material (minus the SIR model nonsense). I wish I could've had her for every biology class tbh. I came back from studying abroad this past semester where all of my bio profs minus one were extremely ass (their energy was akin to that one guy in Spanish class back in high school who pronounced everything as incorrectly as possible) so having Dr. Bruns was truly refreshing. Very glad to end my days with her class, and very happy to have this class as one of my last ones at UMD. She also drops an exam even though she doesn't announce it at the end of the semester so the final is optional. 10/10, favorite bio class at UMD. Will definitely miss learning experiences like this post grad. If you're reading this Dr. Bruns I want to say you were wonderful. |

fire teacher. Super nice and teaches well. Very reasonable (I've gotten extensions on assignments) professor. There are 4 pts extra credit for going to a seminar, 3 exams (MC, Short answer, 1 bonus point) and the final is optional because she is dropping an exam. You get a notecard to bring to tests. Besides that, the material is interesting, only 4 hws and the concept checks are easy (3 attempts). There is a poster assignment at the end of the year as well. Little bit of reading for article discussions on Thursday but not bad. Class is recorded but there is participation credit so go. |

This course is amazing. The best bio class I've ever taken. Firstly, Dr. Bruns is passionate about the material and it shows. She provides every opportunity to help you learn. There are paper discussions which are interesting and relate to the material. The content overall is so interesting. The exams were fair. If you study all of the lecture slides and the study guide given, you will do well. Couldn't recommend taking this class with Dr. Bruns more. |
