Amazing professor! She's an understanding grader, super knowledgable, and good at explaining things. The class is comprehensive, but well formatted so it's easy to understand. I only didn't get an A in the class because I went into some quizzes without reviewing the chapter. I absolutely recommend taking her class, 100% do it.

Professor Mauriello is cool professor. He goes in depth of the most common forensic techniques that are used to solve crimes. You won't have any midterms or final exams, but you will have a presentation at the end of the semester which is based on a mock crime scene. The class is split into 3 groups and go to 3 separate mock crime scenes to practice collecting and processing evidence. Each student has a different role (i.e. photographer, fingerprint examiner, firearms expert). The class isn't too hard and as long as you stay on top of the work, you'll be fine. Be extra sure to take the weekly quizzes because they make up a good chunk of the grade. If you're into shows like Forensic Files, take this class.

One of the best professors I’ve had at UMD, super funny and smart and wants students to do well. Strict enough to encourage you to work hard but also very understanding. I loved this class and plan to take his public speaking class as well.

Mauriello is an amazing. If you want to learn in depth about forensic science you need to take this class. You are assigned to 1/3 crime scenes for the entire semester, and each person in the group gets assigned to a certain role for your crime. The crime scenes are super cool because you physically get to go to an area that he set up on campus that mimics a crime he designed. It is a very hands on course where you learn so much but everything is fun and interesting. There are module quizzes and activities due every week but the work takes one hour max and it definitely worth it to take the course. You can tell he LOVES teaching his class and really cares about his students understanding the material. If I could take this class again just for fun I would!

Mauriello is awesome, he's like a Bostonian version of Hamill. The class itself is very fun. You learn a lot about the different parts of forensics. There's even a firearms demo where you get to shoot blanks! He crams a lot of info into the few short weeks you have in summer school, and while you might gloss over some of the hairy details you still get the good stuff. Homework is very easy, he grades it based on completion not accuracy. We had one exam which made up 60% of our grade but it was very easy. Honestly, just go to class, do the homework and read the OJ Simpson Issues and you'll be fine. If you get less than an A, you didn't try hard. If you get less than a B, you tried really hard to do badly.

His class is awesome! A must take at UMD. He is funny and very responsive to the students concerns. Guest lectures on polygraphs and firearms are awesome. The homework can be tedious and the exams are different than 60 MC, but it's all worth it.

The exam was a little different from my expectations but overall, he's a great and fun professor. One of the best. I would've rather taken it during the regular semester than the summer.

I expected an A but earned a B. It was summer session so they did not give out anything to let me know where my grade stood. But, I guess the final exam wasn't too well. Good thing about the class was there was only one final, the lab exercises were fun, and Dr. M is just hilarious.
