Fawole is the best professor I've had at UMD so far. (We are midway through the semester). In class, they are super engaging because their notes are so well organized and they speak clearly. I also like their two in-class canvas questions, as I think it helps me gauge myself. Whenever I miss class I just look at their uploaded notes, and it is so well organized and labeled that I can work through it and understand. They also don't just title their lectures "lecture 1" "lecture 2" but with the actual content, so it's super easy to navigate when doing the homework. Also the way they organized their elms page is so easy to navigate and find stuff. I also agree with the person below me, the homeworks are very challenging. The first one took me several hours and was very repetitive, but I think it helped me a lot and future homeworks were just as hard but went much quicker because the first one locked in the core concepts of the class. Make sure to find friends to do the homework with, so you can catch each others mistakes. Also sometimes they give you final answer on the homework (you still have to solve it obviously). Their exams are also hard but not impossible, but they match the homework so if you understand the homework you should do well. |

Genuinely the only CHBE class where I felt that I actually learned anything. The class notes were very neat and organized and the homeworks were challenging, but not impossible. All of the exams were very difficult and very different from the practice and I'm pretty sure I failed every exam, HOWEVER I still finished with an A- in the class because Dr. Fawole cared significantly more about us understanding the content than getting a good grade. Because of this, Dr. Fawole added multiple opportunitites for us to make up lost points. Dr. Fawole was also very willing to take in feedback from students and make changes based off of this throughout the semester. I am really appreciative of this approach and it was a refreshing difference from many other CHBE classes I have taken. (For reference, this is the only CHBE class I have ever gotten above a B+ in) |
