Although this class is at the most inconvenient time (once a week at 11am on a Tuesday) - I'm just bitter because it stopped me from taking one of my major requirements but oh well - it's pretty interesting and it's nice to see the range of speakers that come in. Moving onto the cons. - the assignments are super vague, even though it's pass/fail maybe it would be nice to have more of a guideline on what to include in a personal statement or career plan? These assignments are also not really mentioned in class either. I think it would be better to dedicate some class time to explaining them and then having us do them but it's fine I guess - the speakers really don't know when to stop talking. Idk what the memo is but some of them run over 50 minutes which would be fine if I didn't have class afterwards - this is more of a gripe on the planning side I think. - Dr. Reutt-Robey seems like a really nice person but she does not really project so at times it's hard to hear her. Additionally the way she presents information sometimes is quite frankly - really boring (I'm sorry!) - Although I understand that this is a lecturer forward class, people sometimes are just out of it. It's a 1 credit class pass/fail that honestly no one really wants to take. I'm glad she takes it seriously but why did she feel the need to take a picture of someone on their laptop? Or continually walk up and down the lecture hall? If anything her actions are just as distracting. If you're a chem/biochem major and are required to take this - it's not a bad class. I dont know if Reutt-Robey will be teaching this after this semester though. If she is, be prepared to sit through (or skip) some slightly boring lectures.
