Michael Dunham CHSE376 Expecting an A Anonymous 04/21/2026	This was my favorite class of the semester! It is literally just chatting in asl. The whole course is immersive in asl which I was not expecting but it made learning so much easier. Micheal is the sweetest soul and will always make sure you understand the material and will take time to repeat himself in asl and make sure you are doing the correct sign. The assignments look like a lot but they are usually very simple and take less than an hour to complete all the weeks assignments. The final was presenting a "all about me" side show of a partner in class and used things we learned in class. I will say I would recommend trying not to miss a class as the course is cumulative in the things being taught but I honestly never felt like skipping his class because it was so interesting. He also has a great sense of humor!! Take this class with Michael even if you think you will never need asl!!

Michael Dunham CHSE376 Expecting an A Anonymous 12/06/2025	This class is absolutely amazing and Michael is one of the best professors I've ever had the opportunity to take at UMD. He makes the class so enjoyable and works to make the class as inclusive and welcoming as possible. You'll often play 2-3 games every class to learn the material so it makes the class fun to go to and allows you to get to know your peers really well which is a huge plus. Like others have said, I really feel the only way to take this course is in-person and its a really easy A if you just put like a couple minutes a day into the course instead of trying to cram all the assignments last minute, as you'd expect with any language. Michael's the absolute goat tho and I'd highly recommend him to anyone wanting to take an ASL Course. Also everything stated in the negative review previously is completely untrue as of now.
