Grant Writing in Education and the Social Sciences

This course focuses on the comprehensive process of identifying, preparing, and applying for funding through grant applications. Topics include the identification of funding sources, description of grant application procedures and components, development of budgets, and post-award topics. Major components of the course include preparing a small grant application, outlining a federal grant application, and participating in the peer-review process. This course focuses on federal agencies, foundations, and doctoral-level mechanisms, and will cover the mechanics of proposal writing, the political and social aspects of the application and peer-review process, and tailoring proposals to specific audience and agency interests.
