Special Topics in National/International Cinemas; Gender and Storytelling in Iranian Film and Theater

Human beings have told stories from the dawn of civilization. This course explores the power, place, and practice of storytelling in relation to the gender and gender-bending of the narrator, narrated, and reader. We will look at the way storytelling practice has been used for performing, reforming, and transforming gender in a variety of narratives (lyrical forms, memoirs, films, and performances).
