Special Topics in Classical Literature; Black Classical Tradition

This course will cover various African American authors and how they have found a connection to classic literature. The purpose of this class is to reveal the history of classical studies in the Black community and to show how the literature connects to common themes relevant to all of humanity. In addition, we will explore how African American authors have often used classic literature to help illuminate the message of liberation and equality in their works.
