Lixing Miao CLAS310 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 12/15/2025	I loved this class. The topics are very interesting and make you think long after the class is over. The professor is really nice and you can tell he really loves what he teaches. The TA is also really helpful and responsive. Overall I would def recommend this class to anyone interested in ancient philosophy. The professor's teaching style is slideshow while lecturing the whole class. Occasionally he will ask questions so there are opportunities to engage. There is 1 quiz every week and 1 discussion assignment. The quiz is two questions, one multiple choice and one true or false (one question is based on the reading, one is based on the lecture slides from that week). The discussion section assignment is a writing assignment where there are two passages, you pick one queston, discuss, and write an answer). If you do poorly in this class, you're just stupid, idk what to tell you. The professor is extremely lenient in grading, more than any professor I've ever had. He literally let us choose to take the final or write a paper AND said if we write the paper we will recieve a first draft grade and if we revise it we will get a higher score. The quizzes can tank your grade a little but he removes the lowest 3 scores from your quizzes and lowest 2 from the discussion section assignments.
