Andrew is a great TA. Like the prof, he is open to helping you as needed while you adjust to UMD, and he is very easy to talk to.

Great TA. Very well spoken during his presentation for the class, and is willing to help if you need it while settling into UMD.

Short, easy class. You'll be able to get a lot of points just by attending, and the rest are easy homework assignments that she mentions well before they are due (she also posts reminders). Blanset is a nice person and is willing to help if you have issues outside of the class itself, since CMNS100 is a UNIV100-type class.

Dr. Schech is an amazing teacher, she did her best to get to know us personally, and even made us bracelets at the beginning of the year of our names and favorite colors. I haven't had her for a STEM class, but she was extremely approachable and seemed like she wanted her students to succeed.

If you have a pulse, take Clay! Clay Smith was my prof for CMNS100, and he's hands down the best prof I had all semester. He’s kind, chill, and the class is super laid-back with no pressure. Just a few assignments (mostly reflections and one group project), and we even did tier lists on fries and water bottle brands! The class also gives you valuable info about the CMNS college, and the guest speakers were super informative—definitely pay attention. Clay genuinely cares about each student’s success. If you need help with anything—scheduling, profs, or your 4-year plan—go to his office! He'll go above and beyond to make sure you leave feeling confident and with all your questions answered. Seriously, TAKE THIS PROF!

Great professor, while this class is considered easy she is always there for students if you have a class issue, or personal issue conflicting. This class doesn't run the whole semester, only ten weeks.

She was a great instructor with lots of energy! She showed us that she wanted our small cmns100 class to become friendly with each other. She always brought fun games and interesting activities to each weekly class. She taught me much about UMD in this class and I'm glad I picked her section. Even though she is also an HPAO advisor for upperclassmen, she told us that she would make an exception and we could schedule HPAO meetings with her. She is the best and she deserves a 5-star review.

BEST ADVISOR AND PROFESSOR FOR CMNS. SO MUCH HELPFUL INFORMATION WAS GIVEN IN THAT CLASS. HE MADE THE BORING TOPIC SO FUN AND INTRESTING. HE WAS EVEN WILLING TO TAKE ADVISE FROM STUDENT IN ORDER TO IMPROVE. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN.

She's the best. Always created a friendly and welcoming environment. Her assignments are very short, they could be completed within 30 minutes and she will usually give you time in class to do it. Most of the time, she would release us early if there was nothing left to cover during class. The presentations were straight to the point and most of the tips were pretty helpful. She responded to emails very quickly, so definitely reach out to her if you need help with anything, even if it doesn't relate to class. Definitely take her!

Prof. Lawrence genuinely cares about the students in her class and does a great job at giving helpful feedback and information. She was my instructor for CMNS 100 so it wasn't anything serious, but she made sure we knew we could always reach out if we needed help with anything. Love her!

Ev was amazing!!! She was so kind and understanding of everything that was going on, especially as a freshman. All assignments were very basic and if you put decent effort into most of your assignments, you were fine. The course is 10 weeks, so you get out of the class early and don't have to do it for the rest of the semester. Although it is 1 credit, it's a really easy A. Her TA's are also great because she's in charge of selecting CMNS peer mentors so they are all wonderful. She seriously is worth the hype and will always be super understanding.
