Selected Topics in Communication; Science Media and the Public
Designed to introduce the interrelationship among science, media, and society. We will address current thinking about how do mass media shape the nature of public debates about science, where do people go for information about science, and how public understand science. Upon successful completion, students will be able to specify the roles of knowledge, expertise, risk, media, public understanding and discourse play in perceptions of science and policy making.
