Directed Studies in Dance; Hip Hop History and Culture
Students must pay a $25 lab fee. This course places the rich movement history of hip hop in a larger cultural context. Students will experience scholarship in practice as they are exposed to the elements of hip hop culture, including graffiti, emceeing and deejaying, in relationship to various urban dance forms influenced by the hip hop movement. Additionally, students will explore hip hop's international presence, theorize its future and create self-choreographed routines. This will be a seminar/studio course.
