Matthew Griffin DATA100 Expecting an A Anonymous 04/04/2025	I usually don't write reviews, but Professor Griffin receives lower than a 1 star if possible. He's extremely passionate about what he teaches in the classroom but his respect, attitude, and behaviors towards others (including his AMPs) are in the gutter. Like everyone else has said, he has assigned seats during lecture, takes attendance during every class, wastes the first 15 minutes of lectures just going over the syllabus, and treats students like children. I'm not sure if he's on some power trip but his attitude towards students is disgusting. One time, a student sat in with another student in an empty seat and he called them out in front of the class, felt the need to embarrass him, and kicked him out. He is extremely passive-aggressive whenever a student is a bit late and sometimes even calls them out in front of a full lecture hall. When a student was late for their exam, he had them sit in the front of the room and almost flung the exam in his direction. The students in his class are smart and capable but he does not treat them as such. STAT100 should be an easy A but Professor Griffin assigns "busy work" and talks/complains about the most useless and impractical things. Class is also never canceled in this class. When Professor Griffin was out sick, he had the AMPs and the TAs sit in front of the class and "teach" which basically meant students looked through the lecture slides on their own and completed an online classwork by the end of it. He's not understanding, he's not lenient, and he's overall just not a decent person. If you can take stat100 elsewhere or with anyone else, do it otherwise you'll spend the rest of the semester complaining about this dude
Archana Khurana DATA100 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 12/15/2024	Amazing teacher, teaches to the test, no surprises. Drops lowest grades at the end of semester. Cannot recommend her enough. Extremely hard to fail this class

This class is very, very easy, but he wants to treat it like it's Chem. He does nearly everything in his power to make sure students don't skip. Your grade is dependent of attendance, but lectures are boring and repetitive. He takes this class to seriously, walking around the huge lecture hall to make sure students are "on task" with the slides pulled up and ear buds out. Stats is an easy class, take another professor who understands this, not Griffin.
Archana Khurana DATA100 Expecting an A Anonymous 12/10/2024	Professor Khurana is one of the best professors at this school. Her lectures are very engaging, with extra credit all the time. She goes through class assignments and answers in class. and there are R assignments every week, but she posts a walk-through on how to do them, which makes it super easy, basically copy-paste. She also dropped the lowest homework and class assignments, and for my class, she dropped 2 R assignments simply because someone asked. She is always asking what she can do better and when someone suggests something, she actually does it. 10/10 class. Easy A if you attend some lectures.
Jonathan Fernandes DATA100 Expecting a C+ Anonymous 05/07/2024	Learned more in discussion then I did in lectures. Take it if you need it but be prepared to teach yourself the material essentially.
