Hossein Abbasi ECON418M Expecting an A Anonymous 01/23/2026	I would recommend this class as an easy 400 level econ class. The class structure made it super easy to do well. There is class everyday M-TH 10-11am on zoom. Attendance is mandatory but you don't need your camera on. Everyday there are 2 assignments and 2 discussion boards due. The discussion boards are easy - you just need to write something and you get the credit for it. The assignments are 5 question "quizzes" (no time limit) based on the readings and short recorded lecture videos about the readings. The quizzes are "select all that apply" but he tells you how many correct answer choices which made it easy. All of the answers can be found directly in the readings and not bad at all. He does drop the lowest 3 quizzes. Each day on zoom, we discuss the 2 discussion posts. Everyone has to talk every class (he checks your name off once you speak), but it is based on the discussion posts you already prepared for that day. Lastly there is a 2600 word research paper. Everyone has to meet with him in the first 1/1.5 weeks to talk to him about your idea and then it is due the last day of the class. Breakdown of grades: -- Zoom discussion: 9% -- Discussion posts: 10% -- After reading assignments/quizzes: 46% (lowest 3 droppped) -- Research paper: 35% ((Individual meeting via zoom with the instructor: 5%; submitting your 3 most used research articles: 3%; Final report 27%) Overall, super easy winter 400 level econ class!!
