Very boring at some points, he lowkey makes things more confusing and complicated than needed to be, and his lectures are kinda repetitive. The only assignments are discussion posts every week and 3 essays, one of which is the final, but they build on each other, which was very interesting. Discussions were interesting sometimes, and sometimes I just didn't wanna be there since nothing was fulfilling, and the TA said attendance is graded, l but I skipped a few and my grades were fine. It's fine to deal with since it takes a lot of GenEds, so that's a plus, but I was always so tired. |

I like the professor; it's a chill class, but I think his assignments could be structured in a better way. Giving us an essay prompt a week before finals is pretty tough, especially since some people might need more time to develop their ideas and do further research. The TAs also grade quite late and don’t provide feedback on time, yet expect you to incorporate that feedback into your essays. They also grade quite harshly for simple, minor mistakes. Overall, it’s a great class but improvements could be made. |

Easy professor and an easier class. Gradebook consists of a weekly discussion post (he drops like 2 or 3) and a paper (intro, rough draft, and final so 3 grades total). No real midterm and final (other than an optional survey for free points that you take at home). You are basically guaranteed atleast an A- on the final paper as long as you listen to the TA’s suggestions. Also, he is VERY understanding about late work especially for the paper! Just send him an email/explanation/heads up! |

Great professor! Professor Gaycken always asks us how we are doing especially because he understands that online learning is tough. He does assign readings and videos to watch but it is nothing you cannot handle. Almost every single class was a discussion. He is also very understanding that students have other classes to worry about as well. |
