Blake Wilder ENGL381 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 12/24/2025	Attended his course as part of the MGA Writing Internship Program. I found him excellent as both a professor and a person. To speak on the former, his style of teaching was very easing and pedagogically sound, especially given his labor grading system (you do the work, you get the A). As for the latter, he was very transparent with us about his perspectives, and gave us the time to share about our own lives. Gavin, the TA, was also insightful and very nice. The class itself got me into the MGA and fulfilled my professional writing credit, which is a great bonus. Overall, amazing professor, amazing program, would have to recommend it to anyone interested in government!

Thomas Lowderbaugh ENGL381 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 11/28/2023	He's a little old school but really cares about his students. He expects you to work for a grade but I don't think it's to an unreasonable extent. I've learned so much in his class and have improved drastically as a writer. He's old and a little disorganized and incompetent at technology but he cares about helping you write better and is very good at orating how to do that. He's a teacher through and through
Thomas Lowderbaugh ENGL381 Expecting an A Anonymous 12/22/2010	Prof Lowderbaugh really cares about his students. He was readily available to talk to me after class (and office hours). Taking a 3 hour class can become boring, but he tried to keep us awake. In my opinion, he shouldn't have done the exact same thing every class - it became old fast.

Though sometimes he rambles with random stories, he provides some great advice to improve your resume and personal statements. I felt very well prepared for my internship at the Maryland General Assembly. I highly recommend this course.
