Sochol rarely showed up to class and fulfilled almost none of his promises. Course was not too difficult, but no longer an easy A given the switchup on grading.

Very disorganized and never at class. Does not keep any promises made at beginning of semester. Class was pretty fun for how poorly it was organized though.

Professor is not at class half the time. Doesn't put grades in canvas. Makes empty promises. Workload was not too bad, but do not take this as an easy 1 credit course since its not nearly as interesting and fun as it seems.

He is excellent. Although this isn't one of his serious engineering courses, he is a great instructor who made the course fun. Super chill and never made the course feel unnecessarily challenging. Highly recommend.

If you have even a few hours to take this course for fun, absolutely do so! I never played any Zelda games before Tears of the Kingdom, and this opportunity really got me interested in the franchise and community. Dr Sochol really cares that his students are not overloaded, adequately challenged, and having fun applying machine design concepts to the game. You should never be worried about your grade if you show up and do the bare minimum. If you look up the press releases, you can see how on the first day he showed up with a Master Sword and Shield, with an epic intro. Since I took this course the first time it was offered, there were a few kinks to work out in regards to project density and focus, but it is clear that it will be even better going forward.
