ENME489P Expecting an A Anonymous 06/02/2025 |
Look, Baz is great. He's a funny, great guy. Everything is true about him wanting his students to succeed, being very understanding, and very accommodating. I'm giving him 5 stars for that. However, I honestly don't think he's that great of a professor; for his elective Smart Structures class, he was not great at answering student questions in class imo. He would often just point at the slides and repeat whatever he had just said—I didn't feel like he was able to help students understand the material by explaining it to them in a different way. Granted, I had *no idea* what was going on in this class after the first 3 weeks. And yet I still got an A, because Baz hates to give his students low grades. I consulted with plenty of other people in the class after each exam, and the consensus was that nobody knew what they were doing—yet the low was never lower than a 70 or 80. He hands out the homework solutions during office hours, which he records and then posts on ELMS afterwards. Exams are open note, so you can just write down things from similar practice problems and squeak your way by (like I did). So, if you're looking for a technical elective that you can get an A in without really learning anything, this class will suffice. But honestly, I wouldn't recommend the course to other students. |
