I took this class as part of the nuclear engineering minor. This class isn't too bad but you totally need to put in some effort. I took it as a sophomore and was the youngest person in the class so it was obviously a bit daunting for me. There's one midterm and one final. The midterm was 30%, the final was 40%, and the rest were homeworks. The homeworks were pretty difficult, I got about an ~85% average on them. Groth is one of those professors who really cares about the success of her students but definitely seems a bit stuck up at times. There aren't many variations to her problems so you can get by on the exams through copying down the answers (The exams are open note, open computer, just no internet access). Groth was a great professor and made me really appreciate reliability and statistics. |

Honestly one of the best classes and professors I have had in a while. Dr. Groth is very good at clearly teaching statistics and reliability and her in-class examples are the best way to prepare for the homework and exams. She is also very reasonable about her exams and curves all her exams. I never understood statistics really until I took her class even though I took both ENME392 and STAT400, so this was a super valuable class for me. Definitely a good elective to take if you need one! |

Very well thought out lectures, that present the material in an interesting and comprehensive way. Dr. Groth is an expert in her field and will get you excited about reliability engineering. She is a fair grader and will take the time to help you understand topics. Take this class if you are interested in learning about reliability or if you just want to supplement your engineering knowledge and try something new. |
