ENST282 Expecting an A- Anonymous 12/26/2024 |
Dr. Tilley was not a terrible professor...until the end end of the semester. If you are a student who prefers a class with structure and a clear cut rubric, do not take his class. He grades solely based on his "judgment," and not how well you were able to follow the rubric. Not sure if he had some sort of personal vendetta against me or what, but he would take points off for certain assignments and then refuse to explain why he took said points off. We had a reflection paper due at the end of the semester and he could not explain to me why I received an 85. I had maybe one or two typos in my paper, but other than that, I included everything that was asked for in the rubric and I submitted on time. I consulted with another student who literally copied and pasted straight from Chatgpt, did not credit it, and made up a story that had nothing to do with the project we were asked to reflect on, and he gave that student an 83... Also, if you are not certain that you will make it to every single class exactly on time, do not take his class. He never took attendance or kept an attendance sheet, but he considers attendance/participation heavily when grading assignments (even outside of the separate participation grade--worth 200 points). Outside of his (IMO) bogus grading, I personally did not find the content of his class the most useful/helpful. It is based on design thinking and the business model canvas, both of which are concepts that can be easily found online and can be learned and understood within a matter of 10 minutes... but he stretches it out into an entire semester. My advice is to save yourself the time and the headache and take another class. |
