ENST423 Expecting a B Anonymous 07/06/2014 |
It was not enjoyable taking classes with Dr. Robert Hill. I took Enst417 and Enst423 with him. 417 wasn't a bad class and Hill was much better in that course. But its still him writing on the board the entire class period with no online material to study from. 423, on the other hand, was a terrible experience. He reads off lecture slides (half of which weren't his and clearly did not have students as the audience), assigns homeworks but never graded or returned them, was not helpful when questions were asked, etc. He even graded a test in a way that contradicted the lecture slides, and then tried to mock us saying someone must have passed out an incorrect key (and I'm pretty sure he didn't give any points back when someone pointed this out). The final exam was not very similar to the midterms and each of his tests managed to have material on it I had never seen, even though I never missed class and paid attention. You'll have to work hard and deal with a difficult teacher to get a B in Hill's classes. I'd give him 3 stars for 417 and 1 star for 423. Avoid him if possible. |

Dr. Robert Hill is one of the worst professors at UMD. Every class is him basically reading off of lecture slides he didn't even make. He adds almost no insight; he just reads them. The exams are difficult. They only require memorizing the slides, with no critical thinking/analysis whatsoever. Terrible professor, and I learned nothing. |
