While it is true that the grading for this class is very slow and the experiential learning project can be pretty tedious, Professor Wallace is very organized and clear in her presentation of the material, and she and the TAs made themselves very accessible for office hours and questions. I learned a lot in the class. I found the material really interesting, and I appreciated that she presented it in a way that resonated. Would strongly recommend the class if you prefer non-theory GVPT classes and appreciate an organized professor

I am a crim major who took this as an elective however it seems like this is a required course for gov majors. Class attendance was not required and she posts the slides however if you are someone who likes to listen to what is said in lecture I would go bc she doesn't record the lectures. There aren't a lot of grades for the class, one worksheet, one week in discussion where you are the weekly leader, a midterm, a final, and a paper. The grading for the tests is kind of funky, each question is only worth .3 or something and I have a horrible memory but somehow ended up getting an A. This course is definitely not as bad as people have said, the TAs are helpful as well as Dr Wallace if you just put in a slight amount of effort. They give a study guide for the exams and it really isn't that bad at all.

Incredibly boring and non-descriptive class. Grading is very late, and the final video project expected from students has no rubric, no guidelines, and no description whatsoever; it's supposed to be "experiential," but the only experience I gained out of it was a relentless tedium. Wallace does not really engage with students in class, and midterms/exams are entirely memorisation based.

This is not so much a review for Professor Wallace as much as it is for her TA's, however, she does design the course. You don't have homework assignments (besides the 5 pt hw during syllabus week and a small grade for discussion when you are the weekly leader- only occurs once), so your grade is mainly composed of the midterm/ final, one paper, and final video group project). If you do poorly on the midterm there is no chance to change your grade between then and the final - my grade has not changed. It has been a month since our paper was submitted, maybe even longer and it has not been graded. There is no rubric for the final video project and the TA's do not answer emails. The midterm is graded in two parts, composing 15 points total, so if you get even a few questions wrong, you get a bad grade. I don't go to lecture, but when I have interacted with the professor she is sweet as can be, but that does not mean she is organized. Sadly for GVPT majors, this course is required.

Prof Wallace's class was good. Lectures were informative and she went over some interesting stuff (if you like IDEV) but the midterm/finals were usually a lot of memorization; sometimes it felt like I was just restating info, but that just might be me.
