An amazing class that's very straightforward and where you learn a lot. John is quite engaging and most of the topics are pretty interesting. Weekly quizzes are very easy as he tells you what's going to be on it the week before. The same thing for the midterm, almost every question on it was something he told us to keep in mind. The weekly case studies are a cool way to learn about various major cyber attacks and don't take more than 30 minutes to an hour to complete. The final project presentation was also really nice, as we researched a cybersecurity tool, demonstrated it, and spoke about how it can help with cyber threat management. Not to mention John's work experience is insane and he made himself available to us as a mentor after the course ended. Overall a great class and an even greater guy, I definitely recommend it. |

Great professor. He's chill in terms of grading presentations and they're very low-effort. The assignments and midterm are really easy. However, the weekly quizzes require some memorization of the slide packets. He usually says what's on the quizzes but often he doesn't test on every topic and can sometimes even deviate from that. This can also apply to the midterm as well, but he'll usually be 95% accurate. The class also does not usually take the entire duration, and we leave early sometimes. Overall, he knows how to make a 2 hour 45 min class not that boring. Overall, this is a good ACES elective. |

Pretty much just echoing what other people said. Great teacher, would 100% recommend for an easy HACS 408 class. He told us exactly what was on the weekly quizzes and midterm. We had to do three presentations over the course of the semester with our groups, and he would always give people 90+. You had to try to not get an A in this class. He's a super nice guy, and an actually engaging lecturer even though we were stuck with a 2 hour and 45 minute Tuesday night class. Knows how to split up the class with lecture and activities, so you don't get completely bored for the whole time. Would also let us leave early often. |

I took this course in Fall 2021 Pros: + Very passionate lecturer, always very clear about explaining concepts and more than happy to go over anything you're confused about + Would explicitly tell you what to expect on weekly quizzes + All assignments were pretty easy but also informative + Presentations were not graded harshly + Easy midterm + Very clearly knows his stuff, is very experienced in the field and can answer almost anything about professional cybersecurity |
