History and Future of Social Justice in Fraternity and Sorority Life

This course examines several issues related to the development of the sorority and fraternity system through historical inquiry and group dialogue. Students will explore how power and exclusion influenced the earliest collegiate fraternities, and how the imprint of injustice lasts across organizations today. Learners will engage with readings and course content through the lens of critical consciousness building and decolonization. Guided by the Social Change Model of Leadership Development, learners will reflect on the past and present of the sorority and fraternity system and co-create a vision for the future. Restricted to sorority/fratenity afiliated students.
