Women and Gender in Higher Education

This course is a seminar on women in higher education. From the history of women accessing higher education to the current topics and issues that shape the lived realities of students, faculty, and student development educators, this course will examine experiences of women in the U.S. system of higher education. By applying a theoretical understanding and analyzing the intersections of women's multiple identities, we will develop skills and strategies to further support and empower women. This course is designed to facilitate open, systematic and scholarly exploration of women within the broad and diverse area of higher education. You will be challenged to examine and to personally reflect on the basic "Who, What, Why, and Where" questions that, when taken together, provide a comprehensive portrait of women in higher education.
