This course was very content heavy, but the professor made it very manageable. Her lecture slides are well prepared and easy to understand, and all of the diagrams and external content she provides was extremely helpful. Towards the end of the semester, it can be difficult to keep up during lecture because she does go through the slides very fast. There were only a few assignments, and the ones that we did have directly related to exam content and were very helpful. With exams, she usually gets rid of all of the questions that most of the class got wrong and provides extra credit. All this being said, it is still a difficult class that requires lots of time and studying. |

I do not recommend taking this class with Dr.Schrout if you can avoid it, especially if you actually want to do audiology. She was absent for HALF (not an exaggeration!) of the classes, and would upload a last-minute lecture, expecting you to catch up next time you had to come in. Overall, it was just extremely inconsiderate of our schedules and time. I get that this is really just a side-gig for her, but it doesn't make it any less frustrating for us. If she can't do the commute, this class should just be virtual. When she does happen to grace you with her presence, basically all she does is read off of the slides. The explanations that she does give are often brief, and don't add on or elaborate what she's talking about. You'd honestly learn just as much reading from the slides as you would watching lectures or coming to class. As much as I've ragged on her teaching, I do want to say that, as a person, she seems very nice. She would give all of us snacks on the days she would actually come in, and was overall very friendly and. She even brought in pizza for our final project day. But that doesn't make up for her shortcomings as an instructor. If she sees this review, I hope she takes this into consideration for her future teaching. |

Great class and professor. For the exams, all the information covered on them is talked about in class. The professor gives the slides before or at the start of classes, so I found it helpful to follow along to them and add the small details the professor mentioned in class, as that content often showed up on exams. The exams had written response, identifying parts of drawings, and multiple choice questions. We got to bring a typed sheet of paper to all exams, which was helpful and made the class very manageable. |

Interesting class but need to put in a lot of effort into it (ex: like take notes beforehand, rereading notes after etc.), but her slides are organized |

Great professor. If you go/watch all the lectures and study the slides in depth, then you learn a lot and do well in the class. |

Very good professor. She made sure that her students were challenged and understood the content! |

All Dr. Shields did was read from the slides. The slides were confusing, all over the place and difficult to study from. The exams are hard and the only 2 together are worth like 65% of the class, so if you're a bad test taker, you're screwed. Only nice thing she does is add extensions on her projects. |

I felt like I was in a high school classroom in the worst way possible. She reads from slides and doesn't explain anything well unless you ask for clarification. Her slideshows are well put together and she was willing to give extensions for our project with no questions asked. |

Professor Curry set the bar for how a course should be taught, especially when the information is very detailed. She made learning fun, and explained the content in a way that made total sense. Her calm and fun demeanor allowed for there to be little stress that is usually accompanied with typical college courses, and her quizzes matched the content she was teaching on a weekly basis. Her grading methods were fair across the board, and the ability to get ahold of her to ask questions never lacked consistency. |
