Oy Vey. She's actually such a mean, old-fashioned, passive aggressive person. She consistently got mad at students for checking their phones or laughing at something on their computer, as if they were personally bothering her. She treated us like we were in middle school and not adults paying her to teach us. She also gets mad if you miss class and there's not really a way to get notes because she doesn't post anything online. She never even puts grades on canvas, she simply gives you back the papers with the grades on them so you don't really know what grade you're going to get for your final grade. The content in the course is fairly interesting, but her old-fashioned lecture style with minimal PPT slides is very boring. Throughout the whole semester I only used 10 pages on word for notes. The only positive thing I have to say about her is that people are over-exaggerating her "harsh" grading. I am usually the first person to accuse a prof of being a harsh grader but I do not think she's harsh at all. I think she can be picky with the details, but it's a history class so details make up the majority of the content. Assignment wise, there's only 4 grades which is kind of annoying but the midterm was fairly easy and very straightforward. I also think the Cahan paper was pretty easy. The only assignment I had a problem with was the book review assignment because she waited until right before finals to assign it when it very easily could have been a beginning of semester assignment. I struggled to find time to read a long, boring book and write a 5 page paper on it with everything else going on in the end of November/beginning of December. Also, she absolutely does not encourage questions, she just pretends to. At least 5 times a class she would get annoyed at someone for asking a question, telling them that we would get to it in a few weeks when we discussed a different topic, as if they were supposed to know not to ask that question because it wasn't time for that yet. If you're very Jewish and know a lot about Judaism and Jewish history this may be an easy gen ed for you, but if you're anyone else looking for an easy A this probably isn't it. Good news though, she's planning on retiring soon. |

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! IF I COULD GIVE HER A ZERO I WOULD. PROFESSOR ROZENBLIT IS AN AWFUL PROFESSOR WHO IS SO RUDE TO HER STUDENTS. SHE WILL MAKE YOU FEEL STUPID IF YOU ASK HER QUESTIONS AND WILL ALSO MAKE YOU FEEL STUPID IF YOU GO TO HER FOR EXTRA HELP. SHE IS WAY TOO OLD-FASHIONED AND MAKES THIS CLASS WAY TOO HARD FOR A 100-LEVEL CLASS. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN EASY CLASS DO NOT TAKE THIS. I DREADED IT EVERY SINGLE DAY. THERE ARE ONLY 4 GRADES, 2 PAPERS, MIDTERM AND FINAL. SHE WON'T HELP YOU AT ALL ON YOUR ESSAY WITH WHAT YOU DID WRONG AND WILL JUST CRITICIZE YOU!!!!!!!!!! |

Extremely boring lecturer, harsh grader, and generally unpleasant. She'll insult you for your writing if it's not up to her antiquated standards, and her tests are nonsensical. The main issue is with expectations. Her "tests" are split into two sections: being given random names she said in class and writing down their importance and the DATE THEY'RE FROM, meaning it's all rote memorization, and an essay portion. The essay portion is inoffensive since it's just a standard test essay, but the first section is inexcusable. Her class feels like it hasn't been changed since PowerPoint released. ELMS also seems to be a mystery to her. She doesn't post grades nor assignments on ELMS so you'd better get used to studying the course syllabus. Unless you're really invested in the material, this class is not worth it as a GenEd. |

She's garnered a bad reputation because she makes you earn the grade. But she's a phenomenal professor. Take her class if you want to learn. If you're engaged in class and in the material, she will like you and you will do just fine. She's also a nice lady regardless of what others might say. Old school but still "schooling" other professors when it comes down to how to teach. |

Personally, I loved this class. I feel like the information is very valuable and interesting. Each class is a lecture, so be prepared to sit for a long time. My friend and I always take bathroom breaks halfway through LOL. Rozenblit is a very good professor. I know she doesn't have great reviews, but I loved learning from her. Highly recommend talking to her after class and getting to know her a little so she has motivation to give you a good grade in class. The grade consists of a midterm (25%), 5-page paper (25%),Response paper (15%), final (30%), and class participation (5%). I will say that she is on the harsher side of a grader, but I really didn't mind. In short, if you don't mind putting in a little more work than anticipated for a 100-level class, I would highly recommend this course if the subject matter is interesting to you. |

I know Dr. Rozenblit is a really sweet lady and cares a lot about her students, but do not take this class. It is way too hard for a gen ed / elective, so please do yourself a favor and take another history class. There are four assignments for the entire semester, and she can be a very tough grader, not necessarily with just the history aspects of your paper but also English conventions, too. Also, her exams are entirely essays - no multiple choice / true false / fill in the blank / etc. |
