Robert Chiles HIST226 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 11/21/2025	Hey, you. If you are reading this, you NEED to take any of this professors classes. He is probably one of if not THE BEST professor that I have ever had. If you are contemplating it because you don't really like history or are not interested in it, through his lectures he will make you like it and make you interested in it (coming from a guy that wasn't too interested in it, now I'm thinking of minoring in it). He is one of the best lecturers at UMD, making every lecture engaging, interesting, and fun. When you take one of his classes, you won't want to miss one. What else can I say? At least for Hist226 the workload is super minimal. TAKE HIS CLASSES!!

Robert Chiles HIST226 Expecting an A Anonymous 04/23/2025	I took Hist 222 and Hist 226, this guy is such a great teacher, he cares about his students and just want to teach history with a little sense of humor. Class is chill and easy, with 226 you have one assignment a week.

We had weekly journals about our thoughts from the lectures from the week which we later made into the final paper, plus only a few other assignments. Really understanding and made adjustments to assignments/due dates. He lectures the whole time so I’d say type notes on your computer lol. He’s super enthusiastic, makes jokes, and I learned a lot, definitely recommend!!
