Saverio Giovacchini HIST408O Expecting an A Anonymous 12/22/2025	This is for the senior seminar hist408O horror films and history. This was the best class I took at Maryland. I loved the idea of looking at history through the lens of horror films, and vice versa. The professor was great. He is funny and engaging, making the 2 1/2 hour class fly by. The amount of work for a 400 level course was on par with others. While there was a lot of work, this was actually fun. Some of the work was watching classic horror movies. The readings that accompanied the movies tied together nicely. This class required participation, which was also fun. Each class was a long discussion breaking down a film, using history to interpret, and introduce new thoughts. I learned more about history this way than I have in most classes. I highly recommend him as a professor, and I recommend this 408 course as well. Film and its intersection with history was very enjoyable.
