HIST428B Expecting an A- Anonymous 12/01/2025 |
I took Dr. Landau’s class on post-war African revolutions in the spring of 2024. The class was great, Dr. Landau selected very captivating topics and gave some great lectures. This class, however, is not great for people who don’t do the course readings and don’t participate in discussions. Dr. Landaus’s class will sharpen your skills as a researcher and writer. He’s fantastic. |

I took Dr. Landau's class on post-war African revolutions in the spring of 2025. He is a fantastic professor who puts together a great collection of course readings and gives very compelling lectures. The material is excellent, and you will learn a lot. You will be expected to come to class ready to discuss the readings. This really shouldn't come as a surprise, but preparing for and attending class is an expectation of his. If you want an easy A or a class you can skip periodically, this probably isn't for you. If you want to learn about the subject and develop your abilities as a researcher and writer, this is a great opportunity to do so. Dr. Landau is a highly knowledgeable professor who is passionate about teaching. I loved his class. |

Genuinely the best professor that I've had in my time at UMD. Will meet with you if you miss time in the class. Lots of reading but very manageable. No slides to take notes off of, but you honestly don't need it with how engaging classes are. 5/5 |
