Public Health Research

Prerequisite: EPIB650. Restriction: Must be in a major in SPHL-School of Public Health; or permission of instructor. Provides an interdisciplinary approach to gaining an understanding of and acquiring the skills to conduct public health research. This course covers policy and social issues, theory, and methods of evaluation and participatory research, from simple community based health programs to large-scale interventions. The course emphasizes experimental and quasi-experimental designs to estimate program impact as well as evaluation of program implementation. Case studies drawn from the public health field illustrate various types of evaluations and participatory research initiatives. Lectures, interactive discussions, group projects, individual projects and related assignments.
