solid 2.5/5 or 3/5 star professor imo, not horrible not amazing. she's nice and very extroverted, but can also be passive aggressive and her sarcastic sense of humor might not be to everyone's tastes. some notes: 1. at least as of fall 2025, the quizzes she gives are no longer open note and are in-person and on paper. 2. throughout the semester you will work on a research proposal that will lead up to an 1-1 oral exam (with her TA, her, and you). You work on it in small increments by completing worksheets. This research proposal was incredibly tedious and annoying imo. 3. for some reason, as the semester went on, she posted the rubric/worksheets for the research proposal assignments later and later. for the final, full proposal before the oral exam, she posted the worksheet 2 days before it was due (even though she emphasizes that you shouldn't procrastinate on it.) You will constantly need to remind her to post the rubric/worksheet (I personally gave up by my 2nd reminder.) tldr: honestly i personally hated this class and her but these are all personal gripes. genuinely, you'll probably like her more than i did if you like to talk and get to know her. good luck! |

I would not recommend taking this professor unless you have absolutely no other option. My experience in this class was extremely stressful and honestly one of the worst I’ve had at UMD. First, attendance is treated as non-negotiable. She often includes questions on quizzes and exams based on random things she mentions verbally in class things that are not in the slides, textbook, or posted materials. For example, she would talk about an old project she did, name the professor she worked with, or mention a very specific detail, and then announce that it would appear on the quiz so “anyone who isn’t here won’t know the answer.” This felt very unfair, especially for students who might have valid reasons for missing a class session. Her grading felt extremely strict and inconsistent. She takes off points for sentence structure and wording in a way that made it feel like an English class rather than the actual course subject. No matter how much effort I put into the assignments, there were always unexpected point deductions with very little explanation. I also struggled with how she spoke to me and interacted with me when I asked questions. When I visited her office after missing a week due to personal reasons, she was visibly irritated and dismissive the entire time sighing, making faces, and nodding her head in frustration while I tried to understand the material. I left her office crying, feeling embarrassed and overwhelmed. At one point, when I asked a question, she reacted in a way that made me feel belittled and talked down to. It was an extremely negative experience that affected my confidence throughout the semester. Overall, this class caused a level of stress I wasn’t prepared for. Between the strict attendance-based testing, unexpected quiz material, harsh grading, and uncomfortable interactions, I cannot recommend this professor. |

Dr. B is amazing. I do agree with other reviews that she can be intimidating at first, but she wants you to succeed. She is so beyond nice and one of the most intelligent professors I have ever had. I do recommend going to class since she did tell us she is changing the structure of the class. She is wonderful and always wants you to get better. On some assignments, she has given me full credit but still left suggestions or comments on how I can improve, since I technically meet all the assignment requirements. Overall, this professor is amazing and I would take any class if she was the professor. |

Dr. B is very nice. She seems scary to approach, but she’s not. She genuinely wants you to learn and understand. I also learned so much in her class! It’s not often you can get taught and learn by a professor in college </3. She also would pause to check for understanding during class and provide really good examples. -Make sure you complete your Citi cert (just get it done and over with because you might forget) -Each assignment builds up on the other, so that’s easy -Open note quizzes every Friday -One final exam |

Excellent professor. Lecture attendance is not required. Weekly exercises are simple and build up to a final research proposal paper. 2 online exams (midterm and final) |

Dr.B is one of the best professors I've had during my short time here at UMD. This class requires you to put in effort, and come to class but you learn a lot. She tries her best makes the class interesting and relatively easy by keeping her students engaged, and allowing you to take quizzes/exams open note. She does not believe in testing from pure knowledge, which I really appreciate since I am not a good test taker. |

Dr. B seems intimidating at first but is a kind and understanding professor. You will learn a lot in this class but be ready to put the work in. |

HLTH200 is an easy A. As long as you attend class and pay attention, you'll do well. The quizzes and midterm/final exams are open-note, and the final research proposal is a culmination of previous assignments. Professor B is a lenient grader and fairly nice. Sometimes, she comes across as curt/ unapproachable, but don't be afraid to ask questions. |

My grade at the end of this class was soul crushing. Like I actually went to talk to him about it and cried, he was absolutely horrible. A horrible lecturer, a horrible professor, just terrible in general. He gives these assignments that are worth about 10% of your grade but provides no real guidelines about how to do them, and then doesn't seem to understand why we all did poorly. Just so so bad. I don't care who else is teaching it, I don't care what the other professor's reviews say, don't take hlth200 with him take it with anyone else. |

Although he was much better than the alternative professor (Voorhees), Dr. Boekeloo was a mess in terms of returning grades. There is one week left of classes and we still don't know 50% (or MORE) of our assignment grades. When he lectures the class is efficient and helpful, but many of the classes are group tasks and those felt like a waste of time. Also, he rarely, if ever, responds to e-mails so good luck getting any information from him that way. |
