Dr. Butler. One of.. if not my favorite professor at UMD. I had him for HLTH140 as a freshman, now fast forward in my senior year for HLTH391 and HLTH212, it was great to reconnect with him. For 391 specifically, we primarily work in groups and each group is partnered with a local community partner, and complete a comprehensive project depending on your partner. You do complete a couple of quizzes and papers, but the workload is manageable. The TA Shuan is amazing and super helpful. Dr. Butler is really great, and kept this class engaged. Easy class and easy A. |

Dr. Butler is one of the best professor's I've had at UMD. This class was very simple and you will do well as long as you attend class. Semester long group project and two long papers (1 group, 1 solo). |

Dr. Butler is one of the best professors I have had! You can tell that he genuinely loves teaching and connecting with his students. He explains the material clearly and makes sure his students truly understand what is being taught. His quizzes are straightforward, and aside from one essay assignment, most of the work focuses on a project with a community partner. At the end of the semester, you will give a presentation on your work and submit a final report that includes a literature review completed earlier in the semester. The type of work you do depends on your specific community partner. He is very kind and approachable, and I would highly recommend him to anyone considering taking his class in the future. |

Dr. Desmond is an amazing professor who really cares about her students and wants them to do well. She's very easy to talk to and she keeps the class entertaining. She has so much experience in the field so she knows what she is talking about and she can make the information clear by giving multiple examples. She is super funny and goofy, but that's what makes the class so entertaining! It's definitely one of those classes you actually look forward to attending because of her. Granted, her exams (1 midterm and 1 final) are pretty difficult because it doesn't just require memorization. You have to know your stuff and be able to apply it for any situation. Her exam format is multiple choice, short answer, fill in the blank and definitions, and 1 long essay. I suggest starting to study for exams WAY before the actual exam day. Other points (the health fair, poster presentation, timely topic, etc.) help make up for points though. |
