Initially came in worried about the class considering so many words were being thrown around that I had no real idea what they meant. Fortunately, there are no actual assessments based directly off of the work done in class. The main chunk of the graded coursework was papers. There were four main papers we wrote that were related to the class content, but primarily based off of online research, all of which he graded fairly easily. 20% of the class grade is also daily participation, so just make sure to complete the exit ticket after each class and put some effort into the papers and you'll make it through just fine.

Essay over Thanksgiving break and said it was an excuse not to hang out with family He’d review the previous day’s content by repeating the same information Work ramped up and at the end he wasn’t even teaching He talks about how cultural capital works and still shows off his own

This is my favorite class. The discussions are interesting, although sometimes the topics on the lesson plan are only talked about at the very end of class. I thought it was a lot like a world history class. Professor Zipp describes the class as an economics one that, unlike most economics classes, looks at race. The only real work is in several research papers and presentations, which are manageable if you start early. He's a little pretentious, but a fun professor. Highly recommend. At the very least, the class doesn't get boring.
