Super super awesome. Her class was my favorite of all time and so easy to listen to and learn from. I was engaged in every minute, and the way she structures and teaches the class is crazy good. Would take her as a professor for anything, not just this class. |

What everyone else said. She's great, her passion for the class makes you interested in the content (way more than I was expecting), and she lets you decide your own grade at the end of the semester. You still have to do work for the class, but it's never stressful which really helps when you're stressed from other classes. Class is great because she's awesome. Recommend 100%. |

I had her for HNUH100 as well, and she's been so kind and one of my favorite professors throughout my college career so far. With this course specifically, it was so clear that she has a deep interest in what she's teaching and provided us all with an environment where we could easily participate and learn in. She did ungrading for this class, so we basically wrote 4 reflective "process" essays for the class, and then I just talked to her at the end about what I think I deserved as a grade. It made the class much more comfrotable to interact in and participate in, and the course as a whole left me so much more interested in science fiction and the class' subjects than I was when I started. One of the nicest and most understanding professors I've had truly. |

Dr. McReynolds is such a lovely woman. I am not super into sci-fi, but she made this class so interesting and enjoyable to attend. We were given so much flexibility with this course because she truly cared that we were taking something out of the class, rather than just submitting work for a grade. Also, she does not assign grades to assignments. You complete 4 process essays throughout the semester where you evaluate your progress and effort, and then meet with her at the end of the semester to determine your final grade. McReynolds is also very understanding and kind. I learned a lot from her and highly recommend to take any course with her if you have the opportunity. |

Dr. McReynolds is great! There are no grades in this class, and there is a lot of independence and flexibility with choosing whatever topics you want to study in the latter half of the class. Attendance is mandatory, but there is literally no reason to not show up. Most of class is just a class-wide discussion about a variety of topics under the umbrella of genetic modification so you're bound to find something that you're interested in. The last unit you literally get to teach the class on whatever sub-topic of genetics interests you. Overall it's an easy A and Dr. McReynolds is a great professor to have. |

INCREDIBLE professor - I cannot stress this enough. Professor McReynolds' class was one of the best classes I've ever taken. The content of the class was engaging, interesting, and applicable to real life. The class was structured well and even though the environment was relaxed, I still learned a lot. Also, Professor McReynolds is a great person and her passion for the subject made the class a lot more enjoyable. She really cares about her students and gives everyone the space to learn. |

Professor McReynolds is one the best professors in UH. She is so passionate about what she teaches and it is clear that she designed 228U about topics she loves teaching. The course was organized and well structured and there are NO GRADES in this class--you just have to show up and participate and be active in class, complete four reflective essays and attend a 1:1 meeting where you together decide your grade. This format makes you feel engaged and lets you learn about what you are interested in, not just taking notes to memorize for an exam. There are group projects where you get to learn about and teach the class exactly what you are interested in about the topics of the class which was great and it really brought out everyone's interests and strengths. She's also a sci-fi nerd and all around great person to chat with :) |

Top 10 prof of all time. She's super nice and there's no pressure to get good grades (since there are no grades) and the class is really fun. |

Dr. McReynolds is a kind professor who really enjoys what she teaches. This was a very relaxed course as she follows the "ungrading" philosophy, so no quizzes or exams, and most of the class time was devoted to discussions and activities. Homework mostly consisted of reading magazine articles, scientific articles, and a book then also watching movies/TV shows and listening to podcasts. We wrote 4 reflective essays (very easy, 700 words or more) and we also chose some of our own homework. The first half of the course is planned by Dr. McReynolds then the second half consists of two units that you focus on in groups and you're able to be flexible in what you learn about. This is a relatively interesting course and as long as you actively learn, you'll get the grade that you want. I enjoyed this class, but reconsider taking it if you want a class where the professor tells you what to do and you do an assignment then leave. If you like an interactive environment and having input in your learning, then this is for you! |

Love Professor McReynolds so so much. She is super lenient and she's a great teacher because she's so passionate. The class is also interesting and mostly discussion based. She is also so caring and considerate of her students. I 100% recommend. |

Dr. McReynolds is an amazing professor and truly cares about her students. This was one of my favorite classes I have taken at UMD and I appreciated how she organized the class. She takes student input into consideration to make the class more interesting and she creates an inclusive learning environment where you feel seen and heard. I highly recommend taking classes with her. |

I absolutely love Dr. McReynolds. Since she got to design this class herself, she is clearly so passionate about it and the course material. She takes pride in making it a welcoming learning environment where you don't need to worry about your grades since she doesn't give you any. Instead, she hopes you participate because you want to, and then gives you really valuable feedback on your assignments. We spend a lot of time talking about really cool things that you'd never think relate to disability, like various science fiction movies and texts. The first two units are led by her, and then the last two units are led by students, with her guiding you on how to explore various issues. I thought I might want to slack off in the class since there aren't any grades, but it honestly made me want to participate more since I haven't been afraid of how she would score me. She also really clearly cares about her students, making sure she learned everyone's name within the first two classes, and then taking our feedback and going the extra mile to make the class even more interesting. I highly recommend taking classes with her--especially HNUH228U. |

Once again knocked it out of the park picking Professor McReynolds. One of the best classes I've had at UMD. It's got everything you'd want: it's interesting, you watch movies for homework, there's no tests, and she really cares about it. She enjoys teaching the class and builds relationships with her students. 10/10, recommend. |
