"Maker Movement" Approach to Computing; The Quanitified Self
The Quantified Self is the name of a social/community-based movement of personal science active knowledge and engagement with tracking ourselves. Fueled by our curiosity, our goals, our habits, this course investigates data that falls outside of the parameters of what our phone and apps already track. This hands-on, exploratory workshop will help students further understand and customize the process involved in self-tracking, from developing questions to creation of a tracking methodology to analysis and presentation. We will leverage user-friendly tools to help us create digital/physical technologies that make tracking possible while bringing insight and context to our personal data. While the course is comprehensive in its reach, the students will leave with plenty resources to engage well beyond the scope of the class.
