JOUR368X Expecting an A+ Anonymous 12/20/2024 |
Josh was a good professor for JOUR368X (Documentary Filmmaking). Josh has knowledge and connections that are useful for aspiring documentary filmmakers. What I liked most about this class was that it was very chill - it was small and there were many opportunities to ask questions and get feedback. There were some interesting guest speakers that came to class as well. Josh has directed the documentary "Queen of the Capital" and is currently finishing up his second documentary. In class, we worked on a semester-long project where we created a documentary short with a small group. The lectures were focused on grant writing, marketing, film festivals, and a review of other topics learned in previous videography courses. We were able to use the SONY gear from the equipment desk which was awesome. You watch a documentary each week and do a short reflection for homework. This class will take a lot of time and effort outside of class so be prepared for that. However, if you put in a lot of work, you will leave the class with new knowledge and a documentary short that you can put in your portfolio and use to grow your skills. |
