Derek Willis JOUR405 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 05/07/2025	Legitimately one of the best professors I've had so far at Merrill. He is extremely kind, understanding and is great at teaching the material. Each week you have about 3-4 short assignments (1-2 hours combined total) and he literally forces you to submit questions so that he can help you with any struggles you may be having. The midterm (only exam) was open note and the final project is super open-ended and you work on it in small steps with his help. Overall, would definitely recommend Derek for any class he's teaching, but especially 405.
Tom Brune JOUR405 Expecting a B Anonymous 05/13/2023	This class is pure busy work. You get a weekly chunk of assignments that take a while to do. In the grand scheme of things it isn’t that bad, just annoying. But the professor is readily available and answers questions quickly.
