Decent class, but in the end I would highly recommend you don't take it if you're just looking for gen-ed credit. My biggest issue is his grading. We had very few assignments - just three papers, one short paragraph, two exams. However, he's a very harsh grader... and decided it would be fair to wait until winter break to begin grading? We didn't get a single grade back until December 15th, so you couldn't use his criticism or comments to improve or maybe give him a better paper next time. Class is boring. You kind of have to go, but you also don't really have to; it's a small lecture so he takes note of who shows up and who doesn't. Cooperman himself is a cool guy - super knowledgable but kinda has no filter. Unfortunately I did not enjoy the content at all (chances are you won't either). Good news is that the study guides for the exams are almost exactly what is on the test, they're super helpful and make it easy to prepare/succeed. In the end, I just think its too unacceptable to wait until the end of the semester to hand back a single grade. It doesn't just hurt your students grades - it takes away their ability to learn/improve. Don't take this class for DVCC.
