Seminar in Marine-Estuarine-Environmental Sciences; Broader Impacts of your Research

Register by permission of instructor only. Taught over the Interactive video network. The broader impacts of research are important to universities, to funding agencies, and to the scientists responsible for the research. In this seminar course, the single focus will be to enhance the broader impacts of your graduate research. Opportunities will include a lecture about your research to your classmates, or to faculty and graduate students at either Frostburg State University or the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Sciences Appalachian Laboratory, or to a biology class at a local college or high school. Other opportunities will include a radio-interview, or an article in a local newspaper about your research; a field trip that incorporates local high school teachers and students; assistance to a STEM initiative; and creation of a user-friendly website that describes your research. Permission of instructor required for admission.
