Dr. Drew is really nice and understanding with students. She inherited this class from another professor and this was her first semester, so the teaching style is hit or miss. The lectures are done well, but she doesn't really add anything to them, so you can probably get away with just looking at the slides. The two big essays for the class were annoying. The discussions were supposed to help us prep for those essays, but unless you're the type of person to start working on an assignment 4+ weeks in advance, they're pointless. Regardless, Dr. Drew is a good prof, and I'd recommend her for other classes (since MIEH400 is getting discontinued)

I took this class in the summer. Content and exams weren't too bad and the essays were graded fairly. But it is really difficult to get an A or A+ in this class. Only the top ~8.5% of students get an A or A+, which is a worse ratio than organic chemistry 2 (16%) and calculus 2 (13%). Both of which are notorious weed out classes. The reason for this is that there are only 4 main assignments that comprise almost all of your grade and so if you do not do exceptionally well, there is very little else to support your grade with and he only gave our class a small curve on one of the exams. But he was passionate and knowledgeable on a topic I found very interesting so 3/5 stars.

Exams are all trick questions. Not a fair grader, and the grading scale is horrendous.

Professor Saptoka is quite passionate about the class, which made it all the more engaging for attending his lectures. If you are someone who is pursuing a career in Public Health, I believe he is one of the very few professors who talks about the serious issues we face. Course workload isn't bad at all but exams are 60% of your grade, and you really need to study well from them only using his lecture slides. Apart from that, he cares about his students and will help you in learning the material.

This class is unnecessarily hard, exams count for 99% of your grade and they are all trick questions. Avoid Sapkota, he is not a good professor. Also the TA's in the class are not helpful

His exams are very fair. If you study and review your notes, you can get an A on the exams. Lowkey a harsh grader, but he lets you know how to improve your writing for essays. The workload for MIEH400 is not too bad, it's average for a high level PHSC course.
