Special Topics in Legal Studies; Law and Disorder at the Border

This course provides students with an experiential learning experience at the U.S. Mexico Border. The experience includes providing service, touring the border, visiting federal and immigration courts, detention facilities, and talking with residents, human rights experts, lawyers, activists and policy professionals. Students need to apply with MLAW programs. There will be two mandatory meetings prior to departure and one mandatory meeting once students return from the experience. Students will receive advanced notice of meeting dates. Contact the instructor or the department for more information about application and requirements. mlawprograms@umd.edu. In addition to tuition and the student services fee,students must pay a $250.00 course activities fee.
