Run exactly how a gen-ed should be. Light workload, extremely kind and caring professor, and very interesting content if you're even mildly into music.

Professor Lie is one of the most kind, caring professors I have ever had. She also knows a ton about the material she teaches and clearly cares about the subject. If you show decent effort on the assignments, it would be pretty difficult not to get an A. She is very accommodating about needing extensions for any reason, and in general is very open to talking to you and helping you out with anything. She is super approachable and nice. There's a reason every rating is 5 stars :)

Dr. Lie is honestly a really great teacher. I had some personal things going on this semester that made things very difficult and she is the most approachable and accommodating teacher i've had yet at umd. Definitely recommend. As for the course its not bad at all if you show up and do some reading. Not much effort required.

Prof. Lie is a great teacher. Absolutely knowledgeable about everything in the class and much more. Discussions can be kind of boring sometimes, but you can miss one or two and still end up with a decent attendance grade. Absolutely recommend taking it with her

Prof. Jackson doesn't give a lot of homework. His assignments are easy to understand. His grading is clear.

If you come to class and put some effort into the hw (just one assignment a week) you'll do fine. I actually really enjoyed this class and I learned a lot. Professor Lie is very kind and caring and one of my favorite professors. She prepares you well for what will be on exams (and brought cookies for everyone on the final:)) Such a great person and professor!
