Blair is a very funny and down-to-earth guy that is prone to going on tangents in-class. He keep environment light-hearted and is understanding to students, and it is very easy to get along with him. One thing that I noticed was that if you ask a particular question about a topic, it was difficult to get a direct answer or response. This isn't a particular gripe on Blair directly, but the content of the course involves some understandably messy ideas that may be difficult to fully parse if you hadn't read the text before class. So sometimes, stuff just goes over my head during lecture. As with most PHIL courses, expect a handful of writing on a weekly basis with written-essay prompt style questions for the midterms and final. If you are good at time-management and understanding philosophy papers, then you should be fine. Would def recommend this dude. :)

this is a 300 class. you are not taking this for a gen ed. maybe for a ULC? (which is what i did, but turns out thats just the requirements for a minor) yes, he rambles on and about in class and the lectures are disorganized and unstructured (this is a philosophy class). but all of it COMES FROM THE READINGS. ITS ONE A WEEK. IT AINT MUCH. just DO THE READINGS or learn the stuff in another way *wink wink.* if you love discourse with a professor, he is THE GUY for it. every week or whenever he decides to be not lazy, he'll post a quick question as a quiz, and 4 of the same kind of question for a test. my bad grade is a result of me being a bad student. he's super nice, a lenient grader, and hes got buttloads of great stories. you could theoretically just skip all the lectures. buuuuut... the rest of this review is a collection of real things he said in class. "i hope all of you know putting pineapple on pizza is an abomination to man and god" "if you guys get rich from this class, remember me, and theres a ferrari SF-90 in virginia with my name on it" "let's say i want to assassinate putin" "citrus does not belong on marinara" "i dont know who jake paul is, my son just laughs when i ask him" "some guy tried to write a philosophy paper trying to disprove modus ponens, he had to be summarily executed" (about the final exam being on a saturday at 8am) “oh fuck no that’s not happening” (he's making it a take home exam)

Dan Blair is a very good professor. The quiz questions are online and the exams are pretty straight forward. There are no slides for this class, so attendance is mandatory, but I enjoyed the class. Every class, we talk about a new topic or refine one we’ve talked about. As long as you listen, the weekly online quizzes are a piece of cake. Same for the exams, just listen and take light notes.
