Kant remarked that Hume's attack on metaphysics awoke him from his "dogmatic slumber" and prompted a "Copernican Revolution" in philosophy, with epistemology supplanting metaphysics as First Philosophy. We will examine this revolution in Kant's Prolegomena and Critique of Pure Reason, prefacing our study with the work that started it all: Hume's Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding.
